THE FEAR OF UNKNOWN

I used to be afraid of drumming, I used to be afraid of the crowd, I used to be afraid of approaching new people, I used to be afraid of talking to girls…lol…that sounds funny but believe me I used to be, then I sat down and asked myself, why am I afraid? Why the fear? What is wrong with drumming that I am afraid of it? what is so special about girls that I am always running away when it’s time to talk to one? What is it with crowd that I cannot stand before one?  But then I could not point to any reasonable reason why I was afraid. THE FEAR OF UNKNOWN

What are you afraid of? What is it that scares you? Look out for them because they don’t worth you being scared of them, the problem you are having that is making you get scared of them is the fact  that you are not ready or you are afraid of taking risk. Fear of Unknown deprives you of so many things that you would have done gallantly, things you would have achieved with ease, and things you would have gotten easily but ended up losing them because you are afraid of what you don’t know. THE FEAR OF UNKNOWN.

What room does fear have? Yes ask yourself what room does fear have? When you can claim the truth, what room does fear have when you run with perseverance? What room does fear have when you walk with faith? What room does fear have when you rest in comfort, when you take hold of inspiration? What room does fear have when you explore the possibilities and step into freedom? What room does fear have when you discover strength and embrace courage? Ask yourself: WHAT!-ROOM!-DOES!-FEAR!-HAVE!?

If there is anything I am afraid of right now, it is being afraid of getting scared of doing what I wish to do, and which of course cannot happen. Break away from the shackles of fear of unknown because you’ve got enough things to accomplish than for fear of unknown to unnecessarily hold you down. The worse that could happen is to fail and if you are afraid of failing then you are beginning to fail already.

SECRET TO SUCCESS

It is the desire of everyone to be successful but unfortunately it is not desire of most people to know the secrets behind success and as such different definitions have been coined out for the word success. Some people believe success is when you have enough money in your bank account or when you have fleet of cars in your compound and you are popularly known everywhere, but the truth of the matter is the fact that success is not just in the amount of money you have but in the number of people you have been able to positively impact, the number of positive goals you have been able to achieve and so on because the greatest success anyone can achieve is fulfilling his/her destiny, calling and purpose in life.

I was privileged to be in one of Prof. Adesegun Fatusi’s teaching recently and he shared with us the secrets to success which has always been the most bothering question to me; “How did they do it”? what I meant by “they” is not Yoruba-English of “won” but because I have seen many of them around and so when he decided to share it with us, it was like a burden lifted and so I will be sharing it with you too but will be breaking them down in my own words, who knows who might need it as well.

The number one secret according to him is KNOW YOURSELF, knowing yourself is very paramount especially if you intend to be successful, there is always that one thing that distinguishes you from the rest, there is that thing you can do better than others, there is a way you read and understand better, there is a way you do it that others don’t, but the question is have you studied yourself well enough to know yourself? That it is working for others does not mean it will work for you, that others read overnight and pass does not mean you can do the same, that your friends are doing it does not mean you must also do it, study yourself and know what and what does not work for you.

Secondly, KNOW YOUR CALLING, knowing your calling requires extra home work on your part, you need to get close to those that already know theirs and ask them questions of how they get to recognize their own calling, calling in this sense does not necessary need to be the spiritual calling like pastor and the likes but then what you are destined to fulfill and I think the best person to ask if you would ask me is your creator which is GOD

KNOW YOUR FRIENDS, it is highly pertinent and extremely germane that you know your friends because in one way or the other, the kinds of friend you have will go a long way to determine the kind of person you will become after all, there is a saying that; show me your friend and I will know who you are.  Friends are indispensable elements in our lives and as such we need to be sagaciously meticulous in choosing them especially the ones that are likely to stay forever.

KNOW YOUR ENEMIES, as funny as that may sound, it is very important to know them. In this sense, your greatest enemies in Prof. Fatusi’s word are your “time stealers” and they are things you are quite aware of because time stealers are everywhere it depends on you to determine how much of your time you want them to steal, but the shocking thing is what steals your time is what makes money for some people, again it is left to you to calm down and realize things that steal your time.

And lastly KNOW YOUR GOD which is the most important of the entire secret to success, know your God and get close to Him and He will perfect that which concerns you. Knowing your God requires you seeking His kingdom and His righteousness first and all other things shall be added unto you.

MONDAY MORNING

On Monday morning, everyone is on his/her toes, the ants are not left out because it is another beautiful morning to jump and enjoy the greenness and freshness of the beautiful nature around. Awolowo Hall rats rejoice because it’s time to merry and enjoy themselves to the fullest because all room occupants are out running like mad dogs to meet up with classes. The bedbugs are sad because the “foods” are out so early and as such the journey to the road of hunger strike is going to be faster, the lizards have the whole time to tongue stroll the whole room without the fear of sudden death.

On Monday morning, Bike! Bike!! Bike!!! Becomes the chorus everyone sings because you will definitely not want to be late for that 8am class, bike men (olokada) become celebrities that everyone is looking out for because without them, it is either you are late and not allowed to enter the class at all or you will most likely end up sitting on the floor (if the floor has not been kept for someone), with just #50 (depending on the distance) you will get to class even before the lecturer.

On Monday morning, Fellowship Pastors drop the bible and pick the book, they let go of microphone and pick up the telephone to ask class rep where the next class is, the choristers no longer have sofa notes but school notes.  Lecture theatres are free from the choruses and verses of worship songs but filled with the noise of students and lecturers passionately explaining and dictating notes.

Monday morning, the morning that the lazy bones never expect to come, they are always like “why on earth will Monday come again,” the morning that the legitimate hustlers are anxiously waiting for, because it is the time to put energy together again and make productive things happen.

But on Monday morning, what category of human beings do you belong? The lazy bones? Or the hard working class? What do you do on Monday morning? Do you spend your Monday morning chasing your dreams or dreaming? Do you stay in your room waiting for opportunities to come or out on your toes creating opportunities? Do you stay back while legitimate hustlers are hustling?  Monday morning signifies the start of a new working week, how productive the week will be, will be determined by you and your activities on MONDAY MORNING.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

Sometimes when I see things great men have done in the past, I ask myself, what motivated them to doing such an amazing thing? In the quest of trying to know, I decided to ask myself,  “ABSOL what motivates you?”

“What motivates me?” is a question everyone aiming at achieving greater heights in life must ask him/herself and provide a tangible and reasonable answer to it. Some people wake up each and every morning with no goals or aims, some just wake up because they have to do so and more so to go to work/class. Because others are doing it does not mean you must also do it, some enters library because others are going to the library or probably their best friend or most especially their crush decided to, some goes into  business because others are also doing the business, and some even eat and do other daily routines because others are doing it. NO! NO!! NO!!! WAKE UP!!! Wake up to the reality of what motivates you, don’t just do it because others are doing it, stop following the crowd and stand out! Even if you are mocked or you are given different names for doing so, in as much as you know what you are after, their opinions matter less.

A lion is motivated by the desire to maintain its greatness and powerful attributes and so it doesn’t do what other animals do not to talk of mingling with them. Every football club is motivated by the desire to win trophies and as such they go as far as spending millions on achieving their goals. The question is what motivates you?

Most people spend a minimum of 8 hours a day into their work not because they have anything motivating them to stay that long but because of the money involved to pay their bills, but you are not fulfilling your calling by chasing after money. You will feel motivated when you chase your dreams and fulfilling your destiny and not money because money is not everything, it is only a means to an end and not an end in itself and as a matter of fact money will certainly come when you fulfill your dreams. Study yourself and discover what motivates you.
